ActiveTransfer provides an automated connection between your ERP or point-of-sale system and your ecommerce website.
Information moves in both directions according to the requirements of your business.
Prices, quantity on hand and other selected business information are automatically transferred to your online store.
Orders placed through the website are automatically retrieved and transferred into the business system.
Once configured, these processes run automatically on a schedule, 24 hours a day.
ActiveTransfer does not require an employee to initiate routine transfers.
For a typical implementation, product and inventory information can be updated approximately every 15–20 minutes, while new ecommerce orders can be retrieved as frequently as every few minutes.
The exact schedule can be configured according to the requirements of the business, the ERP/POS system and the ecommerce platform.
Because the transfer is automated, your website and business system can continue exchanging information outside normal business hours.
The ERP or POS system remains the authoritative source for the operational information your company already manages there.
Depending upon your implementation, ActiveTransfer can transfer information such as:
The information exchanged can be tailored to the needs of the business.
An ERP is excellent at managing business transactions, but it isn’t necessarily the best place to manage the content that sells products online.
ActiveTransfer allows the ecommerce system to remain the primary source for information such as:
This division of responsibility allows each system to manage the information it handles best.
When a customer places an order through the website, ActiveTransfer retrieves the order information and transfers it to the ERP/POS system.
This eliminates the need for an employee to read an online order and manually enter the same information into the business system.
Once the order reaches the ERP/POS system, the company’s established fulfillment and business processes can continue from there.
ActiveTransfer can work with ERP and POS systems whether they are hosted on-premises or in the cloud, provided that the system offers an appropriate method for securely exchanging the required information.
For an on-premises client-server system, ActiveTransfer software can reside on a local computer connected to the business system.
For cloud systems, the method of connection depends upon the interfaces and APIs made available by the ERP/POS provider.
Many ActiveTransfer installations connect ecommerce websites with Epicor Eagle.
For an Eagle implementation, ActiveTransfer can use Eagle’s ODBC capabilities to access the required business information and ESTU to transfer information into Eagle. The appropriate Epicor licenses are installed or checked out to the computer hosting the ActiveTransfer software.
ActiveTransfer then provides the automated connection between Eagle and the ecommerce website.
This allows a business to continue using Eagle for ERP and point-of-sale operations while choosing an ecommerce platform based upon its online business requirements.
ActiveTransfer is not intended to lock a business into a particular ecommerce system.
Our customers have used ActiveTransfer with ecommerce platforms including AspDotNetStorefront and BigCommerce. The appropriate platform depends upon the requirements of the individual business.
A flexible, customizable ecommerce platform can provide capabilities that may not be available through the ecommerce offering associated with an ERP/POS system.
ActiveTransfer provides the bridge between the two.
Once an ActiveTransfer integration is established, it is designed to operate continuously with minimal intervention.
Our integrations have run reliably for years. Routine transfers occur automatically, without an employee having to remember to run an import, export or synchronization process.
Maintenance is generally needed when something outside ActiveTransfer changes—for example, when an ERP/POS upgrade changes the way data must be accessed, an ecommerce platform changes an interface, or the customer wants to change the information being exchanged.
For the day-to-day operation of the business, ActiveTransfer simply does its job.
ERP/POS business data goes to the website. Online orders come back. ActiveTransfer keeps the information moving automatically.
